PRCR offering take-home activity kits this week for children ages 5-11

In an ongoing effort to promote art and creativity, while also emphasizing the importance of staying safe during the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department is again offering take-home activity kits for children ages 5-11 of all ability levels. Available for $5 each to the first 35 people to register via RecDesk, the kits will be available for no contact pickup Thursday, Aug. 13, from 1-3 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m.-noon at Joyner Park Community Center, 701 Harris Road.

Featuring a “DIY Bird Feeder” theme, this week’s activity kit includes all the supplies you need to make a bird feeder. Each kit includes supplies for one person and pre-registration is required. Please note: Due to the limited number of kits, a separate registration is required for each requested kit. The program is titled “03 Take Home Activity Kit – DIY Bird Feeder.”

During pickup, please remain in your vehicle. A PRCR staff member will bring your kit to a table in the half circle at the front of the building. Once the staff member has stepped away from the table, one person may exit the vehicle to retrieve the kit from the table.

For more information, contact Recreation Specialist-Specialized Programs Kelly Schurtz at kschurtz@wakeforestnc.gov or 919-208-0828.
