Traffic Alert: Harris Road, Feb. 22-26

FromWSJ Staff Reports

Kenneth West, Inc., a contractor working at the future Devon Square Home Community, will reduce to one lane with alternating two-way traffic the portion of Harris Road between Capital Boulevard and E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road, today-Friday, Feb. 22-26, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. The temporary lane closure is necessary to allow crews to finish installing and connecting a waterline to the new development.

Signage and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists through the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists may wish to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

The Town of Wake Forest provides this information as a public service. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of work. Motorists are encouraged to use the information to help plan their route and move safely through the work area.

Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, town staff works with contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.

When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution, and obey flaggers. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers are also urged to double their following distances.
