Donnie Hight received his 60 year American Legion service award at the March 2021 regular monthly meeting of the Walter E. Cole Post 187 American Legion.
Hight, a lifetime resident of Wake Forest, enrolled in the Wake Forest American Legion Post 187 following his release from active service in the U.S. Navy after World War II.
During his years of membership, the veteran has served as chairman of the committee dedicated to the preservation of the veteran monument. The monument is devoted to the citizens of Wake Forest who perished while defending The United State in all conflicts since the Revolutionary War.
“Donnie has been a valued and committed member of Post 187,” said Post Commander Mark Dwyer.
“His work has helped advance the Post through the years, as well as, the community of Wake Forest.
