Wake Preparatory Academy, which was turned down by Wake Forest, could be headed to Franklin County.

The North Carolina Charters Schools Advisory Board recommended approval for the school’s move to Franklin County during a April 23 meeting.

No Franklin County Public Schools officials were allowed to speak.

The Wake Forest Board of Commissioners turned down the school’s plan earlier in 2021, forcing the school to find another location.

Over one thousand citizens signed a petition against the charter school from operating in Wake Forest.

The school is looking at a site to build in Youngsville.
