Huskies mush Wakefield 6-2

The Heritage Huskies defeated the Wakefield Wolverines 6-2 in a home varsity baseball conference game Friday night

The Huskies scored two in the bottom of the first and never trailed the rest of the game. 

Wakefield threatened with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth, but a pop fly put an end to the rally. 

Blake Hanley registered the win with four strong innings of relief, including nine strikeouts and giving up only one hit. 

Matthew Driver took the loss for Wakefield. 

Catcher Pete Maldonado led Heritage with two hits and two runs batted in. 

The Wolverines’ offense was speared by Zack Mays with two hits and two runs batted in. 

Heritage is 6-2 on the season, and leads the Northern Conference with a 4-0 record.

Wakefield is 2-5 on the season with a 1-3 Northern Conference record. The Wolverines stand at fourth place in the conference.

Heritage’s next game is Tuesday, May 25, against Knightdale at home. The conference game starts at 6 pm.

Wakefield plays at Corinth Holders at 7 pm on Tuesday, May 25.
