Jean Jones Moore, 82, of Raleigh passed away on Thursday February 10, 2022. She was born in Johnston County, the daughter of the late Betty Beulah Pollard Jones and Willis Jasper Jones, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Carlton Moore, brother Steve Jones, sister Betty Drake, and son-in-law Dennis Mabry. Among a thousand other things, Jean was an accomplished poet, a scrupulous family historian, a master storyteller, but above all else she was an expert at conveying the love she bore for her family and friends. She was faithfully committed to her church, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Raleigh, but more so to the Lord Jesus whom she trusted both in life and death.
A funeral service will be held at 11Monday morning, Feb, 14, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church (7600 Falls of Neuse Road Raleigh).
Burial will follow in the Olde Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her daughter, Shannon Mabry of Angier; sons Douglas C. Moore (Elizabeth Jordan) of Cary and M. Kevin Moore (Sandra) of Youngsville; grandchildren, Daniel Moore (Christianne), Adam Moore (Cody), Meredith Mabry, Carly Moore, and Nathan Moore; great grandchildren, Samuel, Selah, Story, and Sophia (Daniel and Christianne), Kate and Grace (Adam and Cody), and Sebastian (Carly); her precious sisters Elaine Jones and Lianne Keeney (Don); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Melvin and Nancy Newton, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Jane Moore, as well as numerous adoring nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 – 11a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Youth Ministry of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 7600 Falls of Neuse Rd. Raleigh.
