Lawrence Anderson White “L A”, 95, passed away on Sunday Feb. 13, 2022 at Sunrise Senior Living Center in Raleigh. Born in Youngsville on June 9, 1926 to the late James Ivy White and Pattie Grey Hunt. He grew up in Youngsville spending his early years working on the family’s farm growing cotton and tobacco. Lawrence graduated from Youngsville High school in April 1942, enlisted in the Navy in April 1944 serving as a F4U crew chief in the Azores and was honorably discharged in April 1946. After his discharge Lawrence returned to Youngsville and attended NC State University earning a BS degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1951.
Lawrence first marriage was to Patricia Jean Malcom in 1951 and had two children. The family moved to Greenville, SC, then to Charlotte where Lawrence worked selling heavy duty agricultural equipment. After working in sales for 29 years, he finished his career working for 12 years as a US Postal Rural Mail Carrier in Wake Forest. Lawrence’s second marriage was to Elfriede White. He was a long time member and Sunday School Teacher at Oak Level Christian Church in Youngsville.
Lawrence is survived by his son, Kevin Baird White of Louisburg; daughter Elinor White Laczko and son-in-law Lawrence Paul Laczko of Raleigh; grandson Christopher Joseph Laczko, grandson Stephen Michael Laczko and his wife Shawna Duling Laczko and great grandson Cole Alexander Laczko all of Raleigh.

A Memorial Service will be held at Oak Level Christian Church, on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 11:00 conducted by Pastor Gary Williams.
