February 24, 1949 ~ February 15, 2022
Mary M Curran, 72 of Raleigh passed away peacefully on February 15, 2022. Mary was born on February 24, 1949, in Carthage, NY daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Murray) Smith. Mary graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School and attended Jefferson College.
Mary is survived by her two sons whom she took great pride in, Douglas Morgan of Raleigh, NC, and Andrew (Jenifer) Curran of Wake Forest, a sister Deborah Smith, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cats Fiona and Sunny.
Mary was a voracious reader and had enough books to easily fill a room from floor to ceiling. She was an excellent cook who loved testing new recipes, enjoyed eating out often, and trying new restaurants. Mary cherished the time she spent with her family, gardening, playing games (she was unbeatable at Trivial Pursuit), and her pets. For relaxation (besides reading), Mary would be found watching Jeopardy, Food Network & HGTV, or listening to music.
Mary will be remembered as a kind and generous person who was always there to listen. She was a devoted loving mother who continuously offered support, words of advice, and encouragement. She was dearly loved and will be missed so very much.
Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest has been entrusted with the arrangements, however at her request there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of life in Mary’s memory will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wake County Animal Shelter, 820 Beacon Lake Dr. Raleigh, NC 27610.
