With COVID-19 extinguished, firefighters back to work

From WSJ Staff Reports

The 16 members of the Wake Forest Fire Department testing positive for COVID-19 are all back to work.

On Oct. 3, a firefighter working at Station 2 on 9925 Ligon Mill Road tested positive for the virus. By Oct. 6, five more at the same station tested positive.

Since the first six positive cases at Station 2, ten more firefighters came down with COVID-19. Officials would not say if all infected worked out of the same station.

The town’s fire services were not affected by the outbreak. Members of the town’s other four fire stations made up for Station 2’s short staff, said officials.
