Gloria DeMoura, a member of Auxiliary Unit 187, who attends St Mary’s College in Maryland and a ROTC cadet, encouraged all of her fellow ROTC members to write “Thank you” Veterans Day card to all Wake Forest members of our local veteran’s organizations.

The cards were written over a year ago, but unfortunately, they were received after Veterans Day. The cards were handed out at the meetings of all veteran organizations last January.

DeMoura was never formally recognized for the planning and execution of this endeavor so on Saturday Jan 9, at the Post 187 hall on East Holding Ave., Wake Forest, she was issued a certificate of appreciation for her effort. The certificate was signed by the commanders of American Legion Post 187, Post 8466, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Marine Corps League 1257.

She is graduating in May 2021 from St. Mary’s College in Maryland and will receive her commission as second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

She is also getting married and her mother hosted a bridal shower at Post 187 last Saturday, January 9, 2021.
