Dorothy Gardner Aikin passed away on January 30, 2022.

Dottie Aikin was born and raised in Tappahannock, VA. She graduated from Mary Washington College in 1973 with a BS in Mathematics. She enjoyed painting, music, and baseball. She was a member at NRUMC church and participated in the Altar Guild and Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network (now Family’s Promise). She was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and enjoyed going to car shows with her husband. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rush and Dot Gardner; and her brother, Pearce Gardner.
She is survived by her husband, Don Aikin; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Katrina Aikin of Downingtown, PA; daughter, Dorothy Aikin of Durham, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Lynn Gardner of Summerfield, NC.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 4 at 11:00 a.m. at North Raleigh United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions can be made in Dottie’s honor to the North Raleigh United Methodist Church.
