Phillip S. Wilborn age 84 died on Saturday January 29, 2022. He was born in South Boston, VA on September 11, 1937 to Algie and Mazy (Carver) Wilborn. Mr. Wilborn was an Industrial Engineer and owner of Home Service Team. Phillip served his country in the Army Special Services and was a member of the Full Gospel Business Men. In his free time he enjoyed working on automobiles and enjoyed repairing everything. He was always eager to help anyone, especially with his grandchildren, which were the joy of his life. He enjoyed running errands and working at his son Scott’s collision repair shop in Raleigh. He loved lunch time with the employees at the shop. He always was there to help with anything they needed. Phillip never met a stranger and was a weekly shopper at Dollar Tree. Sylvia and Phillip just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in January. Popie’s smile and spirit will be missed greatly. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Wilborn; sons Stan Wilborn, Scott Wilborn wife Julie Wilborn; grandchildren Alexandria and Benjamin Wilborn.
The family will be receiving friends for visitation at the Bright Funeral Home on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from noon to 1 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life in the Bright Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m.
Burial will be on Sunday at the Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery in Cluster Springs, VA at 1 p.m.
